East Africa is an ideal environment for solar power as the sun shines strongly for an average of 6 hours per day. The solar panel captures the suns rays converting it into energy. This energy goes through the charge controller, which acts to regulate the system thus avoiding over or under charging the batteries. The energy is then stored in the battery until you need it to run your lights, TV, radio etc.
Only specially made solar lights, DC / AC TV’s, or battery powered radios can be used in a solar system as the battery produces DC power at 12 volts. Providing that the solar panel has received 6 hours of sunshine to fully charge the battery, the kits shown are designed to provide between 4 – 6 hours of light each evening.
