Historically, Electrical & Electronics equipment’s have always been designed to operate on the (L-N) network at 220V; at this voltage, most electrical equipment’s operate at maximum efficiency. iVolt® System

The average single phase (L-N) network voltage across Kenya is 240V; however voltage levels fluctuate throughout the day. Voltage is distributed at these higher levels to cater for losses & voltage drops on the distribution network.

A variety of Voltage optimisation techniques have been successfully used in the past. Reducing the voltage supplied to electrical equipment to its optimum level saves energy, reduces maintenance costs and increases equipment lifespan.

Famous being the fixed step down transformers; typically providing up to 8% voltage reduction depending on the voltage conditions & load types.

 

THE IVOLT® SYSTEM – VOLTAGE OPTIMISATION EFFICIENCY

At the heart of the IVOLT® is a Sollatek AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) conceived of 25 years experience in the Power Controls & Protection Industry, whose main role is to regulate & filter the supply ensuring the IVOLT® output is stable & clean at 220V +/- 1.5% always.

The IVOLT® will deliver a voltage reduction of up to 12% whenever possible, which guarantees up to 30% more Energy saving that any fixed reduction method.

Using in-built IRT system (Intelligent Real-time Monitoring), the IVOLT is uniquely poised in its ability to report actual savings. The IVOLT® will give you within 2 decimal points of the actual Energy savings seen real-time.

iVolt® voltage optimisation installation process

We offer iVolt® units with capacities between 7KVA and 2000 KVA suitable for installation at a wide range of sites, from small single phase office or retail locations, up to large industrial complexes using a 3 phase power supply.

All iVolt® units are installed by our technically qualified and approved installation teams. They are all NICEIC approved electrical contractors who have been trained by iVolt® engineers to the highest standards.Back-up generators can be provided, if required to cover the short power interruption which will be necessary during installation.

As part of the installation process, the IRT Energy Monitor® is set up to provide data on the cost and energy savings being achieved and this information is detailed in a comprehensive post-installation report.

SuperFoam Limited; Kenya’s leading manufacturer and distributor of Polyurethane foam products is  using iVolt’s ground breaking technology to make significant improvements in production line efficiency as well as slash energy consumed at their factory’s production line.

Superfoam has always had its roots in technological advances and has the commitment to invest and develop the best Manufacturing equipment and processes. Like most, they were facing huge efficiency losses due to prominent power problems, causing frequent damage to their production line equipment.  Following a sit down with Superfoam’s Energy auditors in search for a solution for protection & energy saving, The IVOLT system was proposed.

The voltage optimisation technology was chosen over other systems on the market not only because it’s a variable reduction system offering up to 30% more savings than fixed reduction units, but because it offers an integrated Intelligent Real Time (IRT TM) energy monitor. This device is capable of accurately tracking the savings being achieved in real time.

Currently, Superfoam’s production line is running efficiently, on clean optimised power, achieving 4.51% energy saving. On the basis of success of this project, iVolt are currently looking in to projects for the assembly lines as part of the factories pursuit to reduce energy consumption and adhere to ERC regulations, and efficiently run the manufacturing process despite frequent power; Improving power protection and energy saving. The iVolt once fitted has a minimum service life of 25 years, making for an excellent long term net savings at the factory. The ongoing costs and maintenance requirements of the iVolt are virtually zero. With a full 15 year parts and labor warranty offered, SuperFoam factory managers can be confident for an ongoing l power protection and energy saving.
